The questions people actually ask.
What if they do not want to talk?
Nothing gets recorded until they have agreed to it. The first conversation is about whether this feels right at all, and if they would rather there were no recorder in the room for it, there will not be. Most people who are reluctant at the start are glad of it later on.
What if there is not much time?
The Memory Kit is built for exactly this, a set of questions to go through at your own pace, with no need to decide about a written-up book straight away, but it isn't quite ready yet. If time is genuinely short, please just message me directly.
What happens to the recordings?
They stay between me and you, and nothing is shared beyond what goes into the book. Whether the edited recordings come to you as well is something we agree at the start, because some families want them and some would rather just have the book.
What if my parent is in a care home, or their memory is patchy?
That is what "while there is still time" is for. Sessions are shorter or split across visits, and family are welcome to sit in. Some days work better than others, and that is alright. Read more→
Can more than one of us be involved?
Yes. Family members are welcome at sessions, and several of you can share the cost. Tell me how many of you there are and we will work the practical side out.
Can photographs be included?
Yes, your own photographs are restored where needed and woven through the finished book. See pricing and what's included→
Is this suitable as a gift?
Very. Conversations and writing take months rather than weeks, and birthdays do not wait, so what you give on the day is usually the voucher. The recipient decides afterwards whether that becomes the full Life Story, or the Memory Kit once it is available. See the gift voucher→
Ask me directly.
There is no obligation, no pressure, and no salesperson at the end of it. Only me.
